CFNI family and alumni Steve and Jacky Nine, with their three kids have been missionaries in Ecuador for seven years. Steve is the Regional Director of Kids Around The World and he was here ministering in the United States when his wife and children were in the massive 7.8 earthquake that hit Ecuador Saturday, April 16, 2016, killing almost 500 and injuring over 4000. Here is Steve’s story:
“Saturday I flew into Portland, OR from Ecuador and was about to walk onstage and share my piece of the evening with the over 250 people present when someone told me, ‘There has been an earthquake in Ecuador.’ That began a process of 72 crazy hours. Dozens and dozens in Portland and Dallas rallied around me in prayer. Hundreds more online. Ideas, money, connections have been pouring in—water filters, solar lamps, medical teams. I have spent hours on the phone, email and on Facebook accomplishing tasks that would have been impossible from ground zero. My guest apartment on CFNI campus has been a center for Earthquake Relief. And now I see ‘why’ I am here while my children sleep outside. And though it is breaking my heart, what has also broke my heart is all the love that so many are sending us. Hundreds of people died on our streets, in their homes and in cars driving downtown. My family is safe. How can I be anything but thankful? Now, I finally can return tomorrow and have the first civilian flight back into Manta. The good seed planted in my heart is bearing fruit and CFNI is in the middle of the Ecuadorian earthquake relief.”
CFNI has already given Steve and Jacky a donation toward earthquake relief and we want to ask you to partner with us so we can do more. Please give below and know that your donation, large or small, is making a difference.
